Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I am approaching a transition in my ministry, and I am about to leave you. I want to thank all of you for the many ways you allowed me to serve you as parochial vicar for the Quad Parishes in Green Bay, WI. As the years go by, I will look back fondly on the two solid years spent with you.

Last March 25, I had the pleasure of celebrating my 48th sacerdotal anniversary. I wonder about the experience of serving people of different cultures, color and race. What passion did I have for Jesus to have gone this far? Many things were done, and many things had happened. I realized a few dreams, lived through a few trials and persevered.

I generally don’t leave things unspoken. Whether it’s something that fills me with joy or something that has been hurtful. It’s not my natural inkling to let things quietly blow over. Words are my thing. So, it should come as no surprise that as I have recently made the decision to leave the Quad-Parishes, I cannot let this slip by without saying something. Though trained that the priests’ life is a series of “hellos” and “goodbyes” yet leaving is no small matter. Breaking an interpersonal relationship is hard and heartbreaking, but it’s time to say goodbye.

I remember the words from the book of Ecclesiastes: “For everything that happens in life-there is a season, a right time for everything under heaven: a time for keeping your
distance; a time to SEARCH, a time to GIVE UP AS LOST: a time to keep, a time to throw out: a time to tear apart, a time to bind together: a time to be quiet, a time to speak up; a time to love, a time to hate; a time to go to war, a time to make peace.”

Leaving you, one remains constant: JESUS CHRIST. He has been here from the beginning and will be with you till the end of time. We have bonded and grown in wonderful ways while experiencing a great deal of mercy, grace, joy and love. We were blessed in many ways. I always believed that God is calling me to a particular place, for a particular time, with a particular purpose to a particular group of people and community.

Bye now and remember you will always be part of me. Thank you for all your patience, kindness, generosity and love. You are great people and I wish you all the best. May you continue to grow in faith, hope and love, worshiping the Lord with your whole heart, mind, body and soul. Remember, everything for the glory of God.
